Discover something a little different about Mare when you visit the Catholic mission at La Roche. Surrounded by massive stone walls and positioned just opposite grand limestone cliffs, this community is the second largest in Mare.
Climb the stone walls to enjoy unparalleled views of the island and is surrounds and ensure you lug the camera up there with you.

When heading onto Mare Island, ensure you bring along a hat, sunscreen, flat-soled shoes and lightweight clothe if you plan on doing a lot of walking around.
If you would simply prefer to laze by the beach and take a dip, make sure you don't forget your swimming gear, a towel and a good book. Snorlelling gear can be hired onboard if you feel like exploring the coral reef that borders the island.
